My photography philosophy is to keep it simple and natural. Whether we’re doing engagement sessions or wedding photos I want to capture genuine images that show the real you or the real couple.
Unless I’m photographing a wedding, or a special event, where attire is arranged in advance, it’s best to arrive for a photo session dressed in comfortable, casual clothes. Outfits you can sit, walk and move in, since we’ll be moving around a lot for the various photographs.
Plain clothing without patterns or logos are best and if you’re having your picture taken with other people, try to ensure your outfits don’t clash. You don’t want to match exactly (for instance, everyone wearing jeans with white tops), but try to balance one another by wearing complimentary tones from the same colour-family.
When doing a shoot with other people, also try to pick the same type of formality to your outfits – don’t have one person dressed for a formal event and another dressed for a day at the beach. Bring a selection of looks and styles, so we can change things up throughout the shoot. You can never have too many options! Check out fashion blogs, or other wedding sites and blogs for amazing ideas! The internet is full of beautiful ideas!
Hairpieces, accessories and bright colours are always fun to play around with too, as are colourful or funky shoes. If you have a hobby or a favourite activity, bring along any props or equipment that might help to tell your story.
Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, come with a smile on your face! It will be your best accessory!
